Dear N40 Music Box Pre-order Customers,
Thank you for your continued patience. The shipping for batches using the new comb is currently underway in successive waves. We sincerely apologize for the slower shipping pace. However, because the production difficulty of the new comb is significantly higher than expected, we maintained very conservative, single-digit production volumes during the initial testing phase to prevent any assembly errors.
Below is the live comparison video between the new and old combs. We chose to film using the N40 standard performance version playing a short excerpt of Haydn’s Serenade. Since this classic piece features a lively and fast tempo, it easily resonates with our English, Japanese, and Chinese-speaking customers who are familiar with the melody.
Simply put, we found that the acoustic characteristics of the old and new combs are basically identical. However, the new version corrects the previous issue where certain notes had slight volume inconsistencies. As a result, the overall melody of the new comb sounds steadier, smoother, and cleaner.
We estimate it will take about two more weeks to relieve the inventory pressure of the new comb. By then, all Muro Box models—including both the N40 and N20—will be fully transitioned to using our self-produced combs.
If you have not yet replied to confirm your satisfaction with the laser-engraving layout draft or the audio preview of the arrangement, please remember to reply to us so we can proceed smoothly with your shipment!
[Exclusive Pre-order Appreciation]
To thank everyone for your patience, we will handwrite personal cards to mark your exclusive pre-order sequence number for this batch of MIT sound combs.
[Design Change Explanation for the Commemorative Numbering]
We originally planned to laser-engrave the commemorative numbering directly onto the music box combs. However, during the actual assembly process, we found that a single music box contains multiple combs, making it difficult to manage individual numbers. Therefore, for this first batch, we will still apply a unified special text mark on the combs while omitting the serial numbers. Instead, we have chosen to use “handwritten cards to describe the serial numbers,” delivering this exclusive appreciation directly into your hands.
Below are photos of some N40 units that have already been shipped. With prior authorization from our customers to share them, we are posting these real photos here to share with you. Thank you for your patience.
