Reason
Although the Muro Box Programmable Music Box is manufactured in Taiwan, one of its key components—the comb—has long been imported from Japan.
Our combs are made from raw material sourced from Sankyo of Japan (now Nidec Instruments). After rough machining in Japan, the combs are imported to Taiwan by Kyooh Precision Industry Co., Ltd. We then modify them by adding dampers and weights, and finally Kyooh tunes and assembles them into the Muro Box.
The quality of Japanese combs is exceptional, and we have encountered no issues with them over the years. Precisely because of this, however, we have continued to rely on the same model and have never truly developed our own capability in comb design. When a new model requires an expanded musical scale, we find ourselves constrained by the existing specifications, making it difficult to push beyond those limits.
Earlier this year, we finally decided to produce the comb ourselves. During this period, we tried various machining and heat treatment methods, and sent sample pieces back and forth to TaichungKyoohfor testing and tuning. We are now in the final stage, only a few days away from completing the design.
Our Determination
This time, we have chosen not to source from Japan.
Although the inventory has been exhausted, only by personally mastering the complete comb manufacturing process can we truly unlock the potential for new models.
Therefore, during this transition period, the N40'ssoundboardWe are currently out of stock and unable to ship immediately.
For customers who continue to support us during this period (September 1 to September 30, 2026), we will upgrade the resonance box to the acacia wood model free of charge (original add-on price: NTD$7,391) to express our gratitude.

At the same time, this batch will also be the first shipment to feature fully self-manufactured combs. We will engrave a special mark on the combs to commemorate this milestone, leaving a trace of the journey we have shared with you.

Currently, the N20 series still uses Japanese-made combs, and inventory is sufficient.
