I’m Christophe Duquesne, from La Voix du Luthier and Haken Audio. I’m an instrument maker, sound-designer and musician, and I love to associate acoustic and electronic sounds, merging skills from the past and the most recent technologies.
I’m a long time music box lover, and fell in love with the one in the picture below when I was very very young (2 years old… yes), and my father recently offered it to me.
How did I find the Muro Box (a MIDI-controlled music box)?
When I heard about the the Muro Box from my dear friends Elisabeth and James from Synthtopia (https://www.synthtopia.com/content/2022/02/26/the-muro-box-is-a-midi-controllable-mechanical-music-box ) I had no hesitation and immediately purchased it ! Furthermore, it’s such a great combo together with our Onde resonator (it looks like a unusual piano and sound amazing).
This is a short improvisation on an Onde acoustically coupled with a Muro Box (MIDI-controlled music box). The coupling is purely mechanical here and the sound of the music box is naturally amplified by the soundboard of the Onde. The small keyboard (a bit noisy) is a CME XKey.
After purchase, the Muro Box (midi-controlled music box) was shipped very quickly and I had some very nice exchanges with the Muro Box Team.
The sound of the Muro Box is just perfect: you can really play your music box and integrate it in your own composition. And it is rock solid: I brought it to SynthFest France (I’m involved in its organization) and it was used by visitors for 3 full days without any issue.
When I take our Onde resonance box and Muro Box to various exhibitions, there will always be visitors at the booth, enjoy playing the music box. If we have the opportunity to meet at the exhibition in the future, you are welcome stop by to listen to the effect of combining this music box with the Onde.
Muro Box-N40 Standard's Live Demo
Having a chromatic scale (all flats and sharps available) is a huge improvement for me and allows to use the N40 in much more musical contexts.
