Experience the Heart-Warming Magic of Music Box Through the Personal Unique Stories Shared in a Webcast (Singapore)
Wei Wei
I am Wei Wei, a livestreamer from Singapore. Due to work, I often go to Taiwan and South Korea to find practical and interesting products, and introduce them to Singaporean audiences through my live webcast.
When I was Looking for Products that can Represent Taiwan, I Came Across "Muro Box"
I had the opportunity to come to Taiwan this year for business collaboration, and I also used my spare time to search for Taiwan specialty products.
Many friends have been telling me to check out musical boxes in Taiwan but i felt the usual musical boxes are just normal and not as enticing, until I chanced upon Muro Box.
What a Great Music Box!
I got in touch with Ms. Shiao-Chen Tsai, the co-founder of Muro Box, and personally visited the office of Muro Box in Taipei. After operating the music box in person, I was completely fascinated. You can change the songs via its app. In addition, the music arranger plugged in the MIDI keyboard with the N20 standard version on the spot, and the Muro Box immediately became a musical instrument. She played the familiar song “Big Hands in Small Hands” by Liang Jingru, and it was stunning. Compared with the traditional music box, it has many more applications and functions.
Not only that, after chatting with Shiao-Chen, I felt the strong emotional bond aroused by the music box. Shiao-Chen shared with me that many customers viewed the Muro Box as an important gift, and there are many touching stories behind it. The live song request activities they often hold also feature sharing personal stories related to the songs.
After these discussions, I decided to do a different live broadcast for this special product. I asked my fans to request songs they wish to share with, and their personal stories related to those songs.
At that time, I was going back to Singapore on 12/23, so the 12/22 live broadcast of Muro Box was regarded as the last stop of my memories in Taiwan, and it was also an important stop to unveil my new experience in life.
An Unusual Live Streaming!
At 10 o’clock in the morning that day, we filmed in the “Yaker Coworking Space” where Shiao-Chen started her business in the early days. The purpose of this live webcast is not to introduce products and encourage orders, but to share emotional stories and music box performances with my fans.
At the beginning, I interviewed Shiao-Chen and asked her why she wanted to invent the Muro Box. I learned that Shiao-Chen met her husband during a summer program in Austria, and she bought a music box (Mozart – Eine Kleine Nachtmusik allegro) in the size of a matchbox as a commemorative gift of their relationship.
Unexpectedly, this conversation inspired them to start this product development journey. At that time, Shiao-Chen’s husband was looking for a good product idea to do his startup, hoping to find a product that could apply his expertise in firmware programming. Shiao-Chen suggested inventing a music box that could change songs easily so you can choose to play any songs you like and recall the memories associated with those songs. Then, you will play this music box more often and will not forget about it easily. At that time, they thought of their wedding song, “Chai Rice Oil Salt Sauce Vinegar Tea” by Wang Leehom.
Before the Live Streaming, Our Fans Provided the Real Story Behind the Songs
Before the live streaming, I asked fans to order songs and provide the stories to explain why they chose those songs. I collected the stories from four fans: a widowed single mother, a rebellious daughter, two married ladies who want to relive the happiness of the wedding banquet and recall the reason why they decided to marry their husbands.
We introduce their stories in the live broadcast, and the music arranger plays these songs on the MIDI keyboard to let the Muro Box play the same melodies in real time!
The first song “Little Dimple” (JJ Lin feat. Charlene Choi)
Ms. Huang was the first person to respond to my question, and she was very enthusiastic about it. Talking about the song kind of made her eyes sparkle and her spirit lifted up like this melody is playing in her heart at that time.
The Second Song “Let Go” (BTS)
It was through a random chat that I got to find out Ms. Sim’s life story. She was a bubbly 50ish lady whom you’ll never guess has such a tough life. Talking to her made me feel that my problems pale in comparison to the heartache and loss she had to go through. I had the honor to view the photo montage she would make yearly to remember her husband who had died of lung cancer. This year, she chose BTS’ “Let Go” as the soundtrack for the photo montage, and the lyrics in it fit her mood very well.
I cried a river. The lung cancer was due to no fault of her husband. He was a healthy man who had been unfortunately struck with the cruelty of cancer. He died 13 years ago, leaving behind 2 young children for Ms Sim to take care of. I could not imagine the strength she needed to have to raise her 2 young children while grieving the loss of her closest pillar of support. I’ve decided to dedicate this song to Ms Sim, to let her know that she is not alone, and to thank her for sharing her story with me.)
The Third Song “Where Did the Time Go” (Wang Zhengliang)
Ms. Hung ordered the song “Where Did the Time Go?” to dedicate it to her parents. She said that when she was young, she was rebellious and even broke the law. She was taken away by the police in front of her family and neighbors. She hopes that when her parents have a chance to listen to this song, they will know that she has grown up, she also understands the love and tolerance of her parents.
Ms. Hong is a perfect depiction of the rebellious stage of adolescents. Her story speaks to parents who have or had adolescents going through this phase.
Although the rebellious phase is for a short while, the pain the parents have to go through is immense. It was because they are shocked at their beloved child’s sudden change of attitude and lifestyle. Ms. Hong’s story made me think about my parents at home, and how they have aged over time.
The fear of losing my parents due to their old age and the regret of wasting time hit me hard. This song is a constant reminder to love my parents even when I have my own family, especially when I am a mother myself now. Needless to say, I bawled at this song choice.
The Forth Song “Say Yes” (CHAGE and ASKA)
Ms. Yap has been married for more than 10 years now. The main prayer for her marriage life is to fall in love with her husband over and over again because she felt that her love for her husband hasn’t been the same since they got married & had a child.
She wanted to remind herself that love is a choice, and she has already chosen this husband to live with for the rest of her life here. Her story taught me that although romance may be gone in a marriage, family ties are formed and need wisdom to manage it for a long time.
Music is the Key to Touch Your Heart
When the music reverberated in the live broadcast room, the stories moved everyone on the spot. Under the sound of the music box played by the music arranger, the stories behind the fans’ aspirations and unique life experiences are particularly touching, since Shiao-Chen and I were both wives, mothers and daughters. Coupled with the catalysis of the music, we even shed tears during this event. This effect is beyond our expectation. Right now, I deeply feel the magic of the music box!
From Discovering Products to Becoming Customers
When the music box is playing songs, I seem to have entered my own world, completely attracted by the sound of the music box, and instantly feel that I can relax myself safely and comfortably and feel very healing. At that time, I told myself that I must have this magical music box.
It is precisely because music has no boundaries and is a magical language used by people from different countries to communicate. I am also very happy to e-meet with my close friends at this event.
Because of this, after the live broadcast, I ordered two sets from Shiao-Chen, one for my mother and one for myself. I want the music box to continue to play a special role in my everyday life. I really feel that owning such a music box is the most beautiful gift to myself.
