“Ten years of wholehearted love and care.”
This is the story of a devoted son who chose early retirement to accompany his mother through the final journey of home-based palliative care.
Mr. Weng shared:
“Whenever I recall walking with my mother through the last stage of her life, the deepest feeling in my heart is not heaviness or sorrow, but profound gratitude.”
❤️ To preserve this “bond filled with warmth” forever, he chose a music box as the vessel of memory.
On its front nameplate, he engraved the ten-year journey of caring for his mother, along with an image that touched his heart:
“A small Japanese white-eye bird waiting to be fed in its nest.”
At that moment, the thought that came to him was—“Ten years of wholehearted love and care.”
This is not only a tribute to a mother’s love, but also an expression of gratitude to all the doctors and nurses who quietly dedicate themselves in palliative wards.
❤️ “The music box itself is a vessel for memory, holding steady the warmth of our nest.”
