Siegfried once wanted to make his own programmable music box but he eventually gave it up. He chose to support the Muro Box team in developing the N40 in the end!
From Belgium, Siegfried had long sought an accompanist for his harmonica performances—one that “wouldn’t turn him down.” This idea inspired him, with his love for mechanics and DIY, to design a music box that can play any programmed melodies to act as his music instrument.
However, the development journey was tough, and he used the metaphor: a hero’s journey to slay the dragon. When he discovered that the Muro Box team, halfway around the world, had created a 20-note app-controlled music box, he generously shared the various documents and resources he had gathered. This provided invaluable insights for us as we developed the advanced “40-note” version of Muro Box music box.
Siegfried’s greatest contribution wasn’t helping us create a flawless music box; it was enabling us to make better design choices based on real-world constraints, leveraging his experience and understanding of instrument design.
Finally, when Siegfried received the N40, he shared with us:
“I can honestly say it exceeded all my expectations. The sound is spectacular and there are many beautiful songs available in the Muro Box app. My house is now continuously filled with beautiful melodies (and 2 lazy cats ).”
