In June 2023, Muro Box Team received a special mission from a Hong Kong customer, Derrick. While ordering the Muro Box-N20 standard edition, he specified 13 custom songs for us to arrange into music box versions, including songs from singers like Eric Chou, Jay Chou, and Terence Lam. We are curious about why he selected those love songs, and seek his permission for sharing his user story. The following is his true story about an unforgettable girl and the songs he learned from her.
Music Weaving the Threads of Our Memories
In late 2022, I met this girl that I love deeply until now. During the next three and a half months, I had magical experiences with her – listening to Jay Chou’a songs together on a ferry trip, going to Eric Chou’s concert, and singing Terence Lam’s songs to her were some of my fondest memories.
These songs always remind me of those beautiful moments. I plan to find a suitable way to preserve these memories and the music, and then present them as a gift to her.
Choosing a Gift to Carry the Music Memories
I came across the Muro Box through the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform. I was intrigued by the idea of a programmable music box. I am more of a technology guy and get interested in all kinds of gadgets that have wonderful ideas, so I had a positive impression of this product.
A music box is nothing new, but one that can actually house all the music that I love is an amazing idea. After seeing how responsive the Muro Box team is in answering potential supporters’ questions, I was convinced that the Muro Box would be a great product.
It turned out to be something more than I expected. It is an elegant music box that can play beautiful and relaxing music.
When I wanted a music-related gift, the first thing that came to mind was this music box that can play specific songs. The songs I chose are ones that the girl and I both love, many of which she introduced to me during the time we spent together.
The Melody of a Music Box: A Key to Memories
I love listening to music. The soothing notes from the music box slow me down from a long day of work. Each song brings back a certain memory. When I listen to Mariah Carey, I recall all the good times I had in high school. And Jay Chou’s songs bring back memories of the early years when I returned to work in Hong Kong. What got me to buy the Muro Box was my passion for gadgets, but I never knew the Muro Box could bring back all the memories that I seem to have forgotten.
After receiving the Muro Box, I unboxed and tried it out myself for a while. I find that it can serve as a nice decoration in the house. Additionally, I enjoy exploring the songs shared by others in the Muro Box App. I was able to find some songs from Studio Ghibli, such as the soundtrack from “Castle in the Sky,” and also from Eason Chan. These are not just wonderful music but also part of my childhood memories.
The unique part of the Muro Box’s experience is the ability to have the Muro Box’s professional composers create my favorite songs. These songs playing from the music box truly moved me and brought tears to my eyes.
The Most Memorable Song
I would choose “Solitude” sung by Terence Lam and “Come out your way” sung by Eric Chou as my favorite songs among the 13 melodies I ordered.
Aside from the wonderful composition by the Muro Box’s team really made me enjoy listening to them again and again, these are the songs introduced to me by the girl. They capture some of my fondest memories and serve as a unique imprint of that special period.

A Blessing Gift
I used to listen to my Muro Box when I needed some time to slow down and relax. But, in the end, I will be giving it away to the girl that I loved, along with all the songs that we both enjoyed together.
Even though we didn’t end up being together, our love for each other will go on. Love can take many forms, and for me, it is about caring for those you love and wishing for their health and happiness. We have now become very close friends, and the Muro Box perfectly captures and recreates those precious memories and the time we had together!
