The Music Box I’ve Always Dreamed Of - I am a theremin performer and composer.
As the theremin is a monophonic instrument, it often requires accompaniment—typically piano or guitar. However, I’ve always been especially fond of pairing it with music boxes.

Over the years, I’ve explored many types, including disc music boxes and punched-roll models. Yet I continued to long for a high-precision, auto-playing music box that could handle more complex performances.

The Muro Box-N40 turned out to be exactly that. It offers beautiful tone, excellent stability, and precise expression through advanced control. Even real-time performance using a MIDI keyboard is possible, with virtually no latency.

I genuinely believe this is a revolutionary instrument.

In my latest video, I perform Debussy’s Rêverie as a duet with the Muro Box-N40 and theremin. The result was everything I had hoped for.

From now on, I look forward to continuing my musical journey with this remarkable partner.

Hidden musical gem in the middle of authentic Taipei - Came here with my mate on 6/30/2025 — though they’re quite a small company they pack a punch. Unique in that they’re the first company in the world to make an automated instrument that plays music acoustically in your own home, and you don’t need to buy a player piano that’s hundreds of times the price to do it! You can either come here to see the magic live in action or order their music box online to play live music in your home! The people here are really nice and they write a card to everyone who visits as a token of gratitude.

素晴らしい音色 - このオルゴールは、音色が非常に美しく、聴いているだけで心が癒されます。共鳴箱を活用することで音量が増し、離れた場所からでも楽しむことができました。古いスマートフォンを使用した接続では少し手間がかかりましたが、新しいスマートフォンでは簡単に接続できました。総じて、音のクオリティとシンプルな操作性に満足しています。

30年来の夢が叶いました。(A Dream 30 Years in the Making Has Come True.) - 私はオルゴールの音色が大好きで約30年くらい前に初めてオルゴールの曲を作曲し、それから何曲か続けて作りました。
midi音源で自分の曲を再生した時、嬉しさもありましたが当時は現在のリアルな音源やvstもなく「いつか、本物のオルゴールで鳴らしてみたい」という夢を持つようになりました。

それから何年か経ち手回しオルゴールを購入しましたが、当時は白鍵のみで大幅にアレンジが必要な上、長い楽曲には不向きだったり、本物のオルゴールのように自動演奏できないためリラックスして聞くことができませんでした。

2018年にN20のNewsを見ましたが、半音階が使えず購入を断念しました。
理由は、半音階が使えなかったからです。

作曲をする方なら理解できると思いますが作曲を続けていると、どうしても転調や半音階を使ったり、様々なキーで作りたくなります。
N20に半音階がどうしても欲しいと思って、muro boxのプロジェクトを見ていたらN40のプロトタイプの話題があり「出たら必ず買う！」と心に決めていました。

そして、2025年6月…
ついに、私は夢を叶えることができました。
学生だった自分が結婚して家族に、その時作曲した曲を本物のオルゴールで聞かせることができました。

I’ve loved the sound of music boxes for as long as I can remember. About 30 years ago, I composed my first piece for a music box, and after that, I wrote several more.

When I played back my compositions using MIDI sound sources, I was happy, but at the time, there were no realistic VST instruments like we have today. I had a dream: “Someday, I want to hear my music played on a real music box.”

Years later, I purchased a hand-cranked music box. However, it only supported white keys and required major rearrangements. It wasn’t suitable for long pieces, and since it couldn’t play automatically like a real music box, I couldn’t listen to it in a relaxed manner.

Then, in 2018, I came across the news about the N20 model. However, I gave up on buying it since it couldn’t play chromatic notes. That was the key reason I passed on it.

Those who compose music can understand this—once you continue writing music, you want to modulate keys, use chromaticism, and compose in various keys.

I really wanted an N20 that could handle chromatic notes. While reading about the Muro Box project, I saw news about a prototype of the N40. I immediately thought, “I’ll definitely buy it when it comes out!” and made up my mind.

And then, in June 2025… At last, my dream came true.

I, who had once been just a student, got married, started a family—and I was finally able to play the pieces I composed back then on a real music box for my loved ones.

A Brilliant Device That Brings Music to Life! - Hello,
I'm truly delighted to be using the Muro Box.

I ordered it from South Korea in November, and after nearly six months of use, I wanted to share my experience. I first discovered the Muro Box through its development videos on YouTube, and I was deeply moved by the dedication and passion that went into creating it.

The mechanism is incredibly ingenious—truly admirable from an engineering perspective.

Using the Muro Box app, I played the intro of one of my favorite game OSTs: "To Me, My Childhood" from Lost Ark.
