The most popular version of this song is, as far as I know, the original version by French (well actually Belgian with Flemish roots, right? 🙂 ) singer Jacques Brel. Later, it was translated by Dutch singer Liesbet List and so the title became "Brussel" (which is the Dutch name for Bruxelles). The memory it triggers in my mind goes back to the time when I studied computer science in Leuven living in a student room. Back then, I wrote my own lyrics onto this melody about my impressions on (student) life in Leuven and so my version was titled "Leuven". Few weeks ago unfortunately, I heard the owner of the student room I lived in back then passed away and so, all of a sudden, this melody came back into my mind after a long time. So I couldn't resist to make this N40 version as a reminder to that period in my life.
