This is a 70s hit by French singer Michèle Torr. However as a child, my mother's aunt gave me this single by Belgian artist Louis Neefs called "Mechelen"; this single features a Flemish cover version of "Emmène-moi danser ce soir" as its B-side, performed by Louis' sister Conny Neefs. So the first version I got to know was this cover version which by the way was titled "We moeten kiezen voor elkaar".
Anyway, when I turned 50 a while ago, this melody came into my mind as a possible basis for a song I'd wanted to do to reflect on my life going on for 50 years. So I worked on the song by writing the lyrics, working out the one-man-band arrangement and mixing it down to a song I was happy about. The final result features both my Muro Box N20 Standard (which plays a childish acompanyment at the start of the song where the lyrics describe me as a child) and my Muro Box N40 Sublime (which plays a beautiful solo near the end where I am already grown up and found my way in life). Since this music library only takes music box arrangements, I can only share an instrumental version here. And so, for the acompanyment for this version, I took a snippet of the piano MIDi data and for the chorus I took the MIDi data of the N40 Sublime solo and pasted that together. The only new part I still had to play to complete this version was the melody to the verse. And well, as I am writing this description, I hope this all will turn out right. 🙂
