Doesn’t make sense to me. This is a music box. It’s decorative and wood. Work on features like volume or reducing the gear noise.Makes no senseSymmetryKnobs feel more upscale and provide tactile feedback.

I do a lot of startup advising in my work and spent many years advising on product design and product requirements. You sell a ridiculously cool and novel programmable music box. These seem like weird features to be adding that do nothing to improve the overall music. That’s the improvement needed here to get new people in and get your existing customers to buy a new product. Please rethink this

Live performances with musicians. Shops and art exhibitions.Just like a theremin's pitch playing with a similar sensor would be awesome!MIDI applications for live playing (MIDI input)Because the corner will easily get banged.Dark wood and maybe padoukPick up system to send the sound to a DAW or so and process the sound (change harmonics, slightly the tuning, etc). I have done this with bells and it is possible.MIDI input is a must for this jewel!

My Muro Box-N20 Standard can not play semiquavers at a regular speed so I really look forward to a model that can play most MIDI files and MIDI features. Also I look forward to spatialization by purchasing 2 or 4 that communicate to each other and produce surround natural sound this way.

Microtonality is also the ultimate tool. I have achieved all these things with mechanized steel cone bells played with Teensy and solenoids, so it would be awesome to have a partner music box system.

I don't think that a battery-powered solution is suitable for a Muro Box.i don't see the use of a portable murobox. but mainly in the office or living room, where it is connected directly to the power supply. It's a beautiful piece that should have the best place in the living room. If you want to make the Murobox “portable”, you can simply connect a power bank to it.Nope 🙁NoneCompatible with Home AssistantI would put the glass dome in the middle so that it is centered, as well as the knob.nope-

Unfortunately, I don't think your suggestions for a new Muro Box version are that great. I personally think that Muro Box is a noble and luxurious product, I almost compare it to the music boxes from Reuge (surely you know these music boxes :-). For this reason, I would try to make the MuroBox higher quality and more luxurious. Here are a few suggestions from me:

Hardware upgrades
1. more sounds for more complex music
- There are currently 20 or 40 tones. A Muro Box-N60 with 60 or more tones would enable even more detailed melodies.
2. higher quality materials
- Higher quality wood e.g. walnut, cherry, ebony.
- Mechanical parts made of titanium or brass for a better sound.
- Mechanics with sapphire bearings to minimize wear.
3. low-vibration design for clearer sound
- Improved damping to make the mechanical sound even clearer and purer.
- Optional version with a crystal glass sound box that amplifies the sound.
5. indirect LED ambient lighting 💡
- Warm, subtle light that adapts to the melody.
- Luxurious RGB effects, but subtle - no gaming design.
- Light can be controlled via the app or automatically synchronized with the music
7. qi charging function for smartphones 🔋
- If the Muro Box is on the bedside table anyway, it could have a wireless charging function for smartphones.

Software upgrades
1. AI-supported melody creation 🎼
- An AI in the app that automatically creates a melody based on your favorite songs or moods.
- “I want a melody like a Ghibli soundtrack” → AI generates a suitable music box melody.
3. improved cloud synchronization & API ☁️
- Ability to share tunes with friends or make interactive music projects with a community.
- API for developers to connect their own music apps to the Muro Box.
4. advanced smart home integration 🏡
- Compatibility with HomeAssistan, Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Alexa to play music via voice control.
- Scene integration: “When I come home, a soft welcome melody plays.”
5. “Live mode” for spontaneous compositions 🎹
- Connect a MIDI keyboard or digital notation to create live melodies and play them directly on the Muro Box.
6. personalized wake-up melodies & reminders ⏰
- Instead of a shrill alarm clock, the box can start gently and wake you up with music.
- Reminder function for relaxing breaks with music.
7. limited artist collaborations & special editions 🎨
- Special editions with famous composers or soundtrack artists (e.g. Studio Ghibli, Hans Zimmer).

i am open for an exchange if you like, as well as for tests and prototypes. i must say that i have taken the muro box to my heart and was actually about to order the n40 sublime, until i saw that you are now building something new, i am of course very curious. i also put videos of your product on youtube with a few pieces of music online from time to time. simply because your product is great <3

I personally think it's less of a "place to use" issue, and more of a portability issue. If people are able to have a portable Muro Box, people are more inclined to expose the Muro Box to others. Not to forget, having a battery means it can be possible to be recharged with a power bank. The places the Muro Box could be taken to would be of no concern. People would be willing to take it with them wherever, whenever. The battery should be able to accommodate at least 6~ hours if used at its maximum power / full use as an ideal point. Other than that, bigger batteries means more weight and size, which could make the portability of the Muro Box more of an issue.I don't think it's a must as I feel the control through the app is already good enough. Or rather than implementing a function like NFC, best to improve the app to increase its usability to change things with the Muro Box.Having a knob sticking out on a flat side rather than a corner side allows for easier placement with correct angles.I'd say N20Go keeps it simple to disinguish it's portability aspect from the normal N20.

If there is anything I'd love the Muro Box (Both N20, N40 and N20Go) to have is to have a proper (special) case / suit case / protective cube / protective box to place in whenever I'd want to bring it somewhere with everything that is needed to have it work. These include (but are not limited to):

- Cables
- Docks
- Reverb Box

I'd love to bring the Muro Box with me to my friends for exposure, but it's hard to find a suitable protective casing to keep the Muro Box as clean and protected as possible. Not to forget that the Muro Box is both very fragile to strong shocks (as it can mess up with the internals) and getting possible scratches if not in a separate casing. And going with the idea of a portable Muro Box, I do think such a casing would be necessary or would make people who own a Muro Box at ease a lot more.

In a battery powered music setupAn audio out to connect to my audio interfacePlease have an audio out
It looks better there.
Maybe in live performance situations where you not only require the sound of a music box, but also the visuals of one. In those cases, not requiring a power cable, may add to the authenticity of the music box as a traditional music box also works without a power cable. Also, in case the musicians want to have the freedom to move the Muro Box from one place to another while it is playing.Maybe you already thought about it, but I think it is a good idea to make the batteries replaceable in case they wear out. Many devices nowadays require soldering or undoing strong glues or using specialised tools in order to replace their built-in batteries. It would be great if you could use some standardized batteries (like 18650 cells) that are socketed in place so that they could be easily replaced without requiring any special tools or skills.I once saw a children's toy that worked with NFC or QR-codes (don't remember exactly) to play associated audio clips like children's songs or stories etc ... And as a music box often is associated with children, the NFC feature also can be aplied to children to let the Muro Box play their favorite children's song.Well, maybe a spring-driven power generator to put some extra charge into the battery? This even could be a feature that is built right into the Muro Box itself instead of being a feature of the external dock.
I think it could be nice for to send music to it from other places, for example a husband and wife sending love notes.Well id like to see the model myself and decide if the motor is suitable and geared correctly. Let me know if you can share the files with me id love to take a look.Making pairing easier is one thing but does it communicate via a midi style interface over NFC?What does the knob do? Volume? How? But i prefer in the front but make it bigger. Or on the top of the wood casing.Slider, you need a pressure potentiometer slider.I need to see the capabilities of the box itself first to decide what will be compatible.Either of those sound good, i think that N20 is arbitrary though. Leave it in the subtitle.

I am a student in product design and id love to take a look at your design. Ill let you know what I think and ill show you some of my projects as well if you’d like. Find my website at doriansanders.design

Christmas display.Make the battery replaceable and easy to obtain. Allows swapping exhausted batteries with fresh ones.Corner looks awkward
even in studio, cables are so much trouble 😉 (and LVDL's Ondes can also be battery powered)the most common ones (Ondes also use 18650 Lithium Battery)interesting feature fore trade shows 😉angle position can more easly be hurtSmall automata (like here https://www.instagram.com/thehouseofautomata/reels/ )

Please don't remove the USB MIDI from the main N20 box !

Getting rid out of wires is the best. Music did not has attachments!Just swichable in some way.The corner is a damage magnet!Light brown carved in the wood will be amazing!

I've been closely following the project from the beginning and collaborating on the surveys. Unfortunately, I don't have a device because it's too expensive for me. It would be great to have a free sample, if possible. Thank you.

Less prone to breakageN20 Xylo or N20 Zylo
Get together with friends or in a therapy room that doesn't have outlets. I have a room like that and I'm in that room most of the time.USB-C charging ports. Easy access for charging.NoneIt's esthetically pleasing.Staining options.
It is good that there are no protrusions on the box. However, there are concerns about the reliability of the touch sensor.
its just a beautiful mechanical device that sits on display in the livingroomi‘d like to have wireless chargingoff topic but i‘d like to play any music i want via bluetooth or wifi streaming to the muro box and maybe have it ai compressed so that the box can play itneither - i wouldnt want the knob to stick out. maybe make a touch field insteadi‘d like to see a black case with a touch display insteadi‘d like go have the muro box act as a bluetooth speaker and translate the songs i play to the analog outputi am bad in naming

i‘d like to have the amazing mechanicals complimented by modern tech.
lighting, leds, being able to play any song on it like on a normal bluetooth speaker, a preset extensive music library from classic to modern and a digital keyboard on my phone to play live music

To show others, like my family. If it was a means to transfer Melodys, that would be good but Bluetooth would be better.Corner is not practical and probably increases cost.

I think it cannot be two units. Just one unit. But by making the one unit also incorporate a clock / alarm, we can possibly give it more use cases to ensure it has a place in the home for longer over an initial music only facility.

I only have the N40, it is not necessary for me. Especially because if you want to use it for a large audience You will need an sound amplifier that will need its own energy source. So for a music professional I do not think a battery is needed. For not professionals my first thought is a small child/baby room (for lullabies). It can not be plugged in there. it needs to be placed out of the reach of the child so very high on a shelf or in a closed cabinetThe battery is usefull if it can be used to power an sound amplifier as well. If not I can only think at the baby room...Please note that most europeans are not so tech oriented. I am 45 years old, I have no idea what NFC is 🙂front but I would try to avoid it. perhaps integrate the knob feature in the plexiglass cover is a better option? If you push the plexi glass, the box begins playing...just thinking out of the box here 😉 but turn the mechanism 90 degrees so that it stands proudly behind the touch buttons. The short side than becomes the main side if you understand what I mean. It will restore the symmetry in your design and symmetry is always better!I think the average european is less tech oriented than asian people. I fear this would not have a big market. My opinion changes if you add the theremin option to the external Muro Dock. I see a lot of potential in the theremin idea.Keep the names simple and intuitively N20, N40 sublime, N40 standard, N20 CORDLESS. The more exotic the name the less people understand what it means

I can only speak for me, but don't go overboard in the tech features. A music box has something melancholic, of past times... I fear the tech features will clash with a lot of people their subconscious view of what a music box is.

The theremin is another matter!!!! It is in my opinion a SUPER IDEA!!! Promote it as a magical, "Harry Potter" like feature and you have an immediate connection with the soul (archetype image people have) of a music box. Try to include the theremin feature in an external Muro Dock

Think of creating an N20 without a comb but with bells, or with an organ. If I could let it play together with my N40 I would immediately buy it. If you go that direction people can slowly invest in their own orchestra.
