The first version of this song I got to know is titled "Oh zoete lieve heer" (which translates to "Oh sweet dear Lord"). It was featured on a Christmas album by Belgian singer Will Tura released in 1978. My parents used to play the cassette version in the car back when I was a child. Later however, I found out about a much older version sung by Tino Rossi back in the 30s I guess which was titled "Petit papa Noël" (translated into English, that is "Little Santa Claus"). Since I like the 30s arrangement the most, that's what I based this N40 version on. Lyrics wise however, I prefer the Dutch version by Will Tura the most since it describes the story of a child praying to God hoping He could send her mother back to her. This resonates much more with me than a Santa Claus scene since I know alot of people whose mothers have passed away and how they miss their mother (especially in Christmas and New Years periods). Also my own mother is getting older and so the fact that she won't be here forever is very apparent to me.
