This is a very early Flemish hit (1947) by Lammy Van Den Hout and the title translates to "Stand in front of the mirror". I got to know it in about the year 2000 when I still was living with my parents. At that time, I wanted a gramophone so badly since the one I got for my first communion broke down long before. After being disappointed by a fake gramophone, I bought one in very bad condition (I should not have done that, now I know, but ... ). Anyway, good thing is that this gramophone came with alot of 78RPm records including this one. And it stood out to me because the lyrics are about a man wondering why women often put on make-up and use alot of stuff to look better than they are. Furthermore, the lyrics state that it's ok to be like nature made you etc ... I, as being blind, never understood why people often don't seem to be satisfied with how they naturally look, because that kind of thing is just not important for me, you see? And hearing those lyrics in this song made me realize that there must also be sighted people thinking like me which I never was aware of.
