This is a 70s hit by Belgian artist Tim Visterin and the title translates to "The bird". It is a happy little song about wizard Merlin talking to a little boy. Merlin asks the boy what he'd wish: wealth, power, wisdom, being king ... Merlin was quite sure the boy would choose one of those things or something related, but instead, he unexpectedly says: "Oh sir I'd like to be a beautiful bird having strong wings and all colors of the rainbow." While I am writing this, there are tears in my eyes, because this thought hits me as we live in a world where more (leading) people should be more like the boy in this song. Last weekend, there was the annual bird counting weekend where participating people count birds (by kind) in their garden to see how things are going when it comes to the bird population. And that brought me the inspiration to give this song an N40 version.
