This is a song I once again got to know by listening to reel-to-reel tapes my father recorded in the late 70s and early 80s. I don't know if the version featured on those tapes was the original version or not, but it was a version by Belgian singer Mary Helena. At the time, she had been discovered by Will Tura, another Belgian artist and so this song was her debute single in early 1980. Unfortunately, the tape featuring this song was recorded over in 1986 since my father decided to collect some music to be played on my sister's communion. So that's why I didn't hear this song for almost 40 years. In the 90s, it was covered by Eric en Sanne, yet another Belgian musical couple and hearing that cover version made me remember the Mary Helena version. So as I wanted to do this N40 version, there only was a vague sample in my head of what that Mary Helena version must have sounded like. So that's why I started looking for it on the internet, but what should I look for, I didn't even know the title. So after searching for a long time, I finally found it on Spotify (never expected to find it there actually) and playing it after all those years, I emediately went back to the time I heard it on my father's tapes. And even though the song is quite simple, I was like: "This is such a valuable memory, I am going to do an N40 version." And that's what I did. 🙂
