Music Arranger: Meng-Ling Chuang

This song is actually more appropriately titled "Annen Polka Op 117," a polka composed by Johann Strauss.

It was composed in 1852. His father also composed a polka with the same name. The music adopts a complex ternary form with introduction and coda.

Due to the frequent recurrence of the main theme, the piece also features characteristics of a rondo.

After a four-bar introduction, the main theme of the music follows: with a rhythmic pattern of alternating tightness and looseness, the piece is filled with agile vitality and lively cheerfulness.

Following this is a melody crafted from short, ornate appoggiaturas and lively leaps, imbuing the music with a cheerful and humorous color. After a connecting phrase of four bars, the main theme is reprised.

The second part of the piece is a binary form composed of two new musical materials, differing in musical character.

Then, the first part of the piece is reprised; finally, it concludes with a light-hearted and enthusiastic coda.

Polka is a folk dance music originating from Bohemia in the mid-19th century.

Primarily danced by couples, its basic steps consist of two walking steps and one hopping step, characterized by fast-paced, lively rhythms, in duple meter, often with a slight pause on the second beat's offbeat. Popularized across Europe in the mid-19th century, it later spread to Europe and America.

In fact, initially, I was considering composing the magnificent and lively "Blue Danube," or the lively and vivacious "Annen Polka"; waltz versus polka.

Perhaps it was the excitement of almost getting my hands on the N40, or maybe it was the sheer joy of anticipating the long-awaited treasure about to arrive, but ultimately I chose "Annen Polka Op 117."

The challenging aspect of this piece is probably the abundance of notes and numerous legato passages!!! Often, I thought I had arranged it well, but upon listening, I found the deviations to be quite significant. Fortunately, the final result was delightful! I hope this piece brings you a sense of lightness, joy, and pleasure.
